The Role
We are seeking a Public Affairs and Communications Manager to join our team in Auckland, New Zealand. This pivotal role involves developing and executing public affairs strategies, managing communications, and advocating for policy changes that benefit farmed animals. The successful candidate will work closely with the Co-Executive Directors to create, develop, and oversee policy strategies, monitor and evaluate policy work, conduct stakeholder research, deliver advocacy and communications work, and represent the organization at meetings and events with various external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Develop and implement public affairs strategies to advance API’s mission.
• Manage communications, including press releases, reports, and social media content.
• Conduct research on stakeholders and policy issues.
• Organize and participate in meetings and events with external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with team members to align strategies and messaging.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of public affairs initiatives.
Requirements
• Proven experience in public affairs and communications.
• Strong understanding of animal welfare issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Experience in organizing events and preparing reports and briefings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
