EA UK is part of the global Effective Altruism movement, focusing on using evidence and reason to find the most effective ways to do good. The organization connects individuals in the UK who want to use their skills and resources to make the world a better place. EA UK is seeking a Director to guide the organization’s growth, strategy, and community-building efforts.

The Role
As Director of EA UK, you will be responsible for setting and executing the strategy to strengthen and grow the Effective Altruism community in the UK. This is a leadership role where you will work independently, supported by a board and engaged community, to expand EA UK's impact. The role includes overseeing programming, outreach, community engagement, and the development of partnerships to enhance EA UK's objectives. This position provides substantial autonomy to shape the organization’s future.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the community-building strategy.
  • Engage with the UK EA community, fostering connections and facilitating 1:1 conversations.
  • Organize and lead EA events, including workshops, meetups, and large gatherings.
  • Provide support to local volunteer-led EA groups and facilitate networking.
  • Manage internal systems and processes to ensure efficient operations.
  • Build relationships with EA-aligned organizations and stakeholders.
  • Oversee communications and the EA UK newsletter to keep the community updated.
  • Develop and manage funding and partnerships to support EA UK's growth.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in community building, leadership, or related roles.
  • Experience with or passion for Effective Altruism and its principles.
  • Strong strategic thinking with proven ability to execute plans.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently, managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Familiarity with event planning, outreach, and volunteer management.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and fostering inclusive environments.
