The Role
As a Strategic Communications Manager at GiveWell, you will play a key role in shaping the organization's external communications strategy. Your work will involve creating compelling content that drives awareness, deepens understanding of GiveWell’s research, and increases support for the high-impact programs they recommend. The role requires an experienced communicator who is skilled at tailoring messages for diverse audiences, driving media engagement, and leading high-level communications initiatives across multiple platforms. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and execute strategies that amplify GiveWell’s mission.
Responsibilities

Develop and implement communication strategies to elevate GiveWell’s work, including public-facing materials like blogs, reports, and presentations.

Create and maintain messaging frameworks to ensure consistent, high-quality communication.

Engage with journalists, podcast hosts, and other media professionals to increase GiveWell’s visibility.

Manage media outreach and lead responses to inbound media requests.

Collaborate across teams (Research, Fundraising, Product) to align messaging with strategic goals.

Oversee content creation for digital channels, including social media, web content, and newsletters.

Analyze campaign performance and adjust strategies for improved outcomes.
Requirements

6-10 years of experience in strategic communications, ideally in nonprofit, philanthropic, or policy sectors.

Proven ability to create compelling narratives and engage with diverse audiences through multiple channels.

Strong writing and editing skills, with a track record of producing clear, persuasive content.

Experience leading media relations efforts, including building relationships with journalists and securing media coverage.

Familiarity with digital content development and social media strategy.

Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Demonstrated interest in global health and effective altruism principles is highly desirable.
11. Salary Range:
$143,600 (outside NYC/SF) – $158,400 (NYC/SF) per year + 5% bonus + benefits
