Legal Action Worldwide is an independent non-profit association comprised of creative lawyers and jurists, united in our belief that those who have experienced human rights violations and international crimes should receive targeted, survivor-centred, gender-competent and trauma-informed support to access the justice they deserve. LAW’s team operates on the ground in conflict-affected contexts combining national and international expertise with a deep understanding of victim and survivor needs and wishes. We work directly with survivors and their communities, building their capacity to meaningfully engage with justice and advocacy processes. Alongside this, we provide technical assistance to strengthen justice institutions to ensure they are equipped to deliver the justice that survivors need, and work with legislators to promote accountability and the rule of law.

Across 18 countries, and in collaboration with survivors, their communities and national justice actors, LAW undertakes creative accountability strategies, including strategic litigation at national, regional and international levels. Groundbreaking Justice Programme for the Rohingya in Bangladesh

LAW is leading a pioneering programme in Bangladesh that ensures meaningful participation of the Rohingya community—especially survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV)—in ongoing international justice processes. This includes active engagement in proceedings at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Gambia v. Myanmar case, based on the Genocide Convention, as well as the International Criminal Court (ICC) investigation and the work of the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM).

LAW represents over 400 Rohingya clients in innovative strategic litigation, ensuring their voices are not only heard but prioritized throughout international advocacy efforts.

At the heart of the programme is a powerful network of over 60 Rohingya Survivor Advocates—survivors themselves—who receive continuous training to disseminate legal information about international justice mechanisms. These advocates also support other survivors in accessing critical services, thereby fostering informed, empowered communities.

The programme is inclusive, working with Rohingya women, men, and hijra (transgender, intersex, third gender) survivors of SGBV. By ensuring all survivors—regardless of gender identity—can access justice and support, LAW is setting a precedent for survivor-centred, rights-based approaches in international justice.

The Role

You will play a vital role in showcasing and amplifying our work on Rohingya and across the subregion. Reporting directly to the Programme Manager and working closely with the Communications Manager and the Communications and Outreach Advisor, you will lead efforts to enhance LAW’s visibility, highlight key achievements, and support impactful advocacy and outreach initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful change through powerful storytelling and strategic communications.

Where? Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh (you must have the legal right to work in Bangladesh).

Duration: This is a full-time position on a 12-month contract. The possibility of extension is subject to performance and funding.

Salary: BDT 13,75,920 – BDT 16,24,140 per annum (based on experience) plus benefits.

Reporting Line: Programme Manager – LAW Bangladesh Programme.

The post holder will perform duties in accordance with the responsibilities outlined below:

Communications

• Develop activity calendar for the projects covering plans for social media, websites, press, events, awards and external communication. 
• Design and develop posters, logos, infographics, videos, and other fact sheets and tool kits as per the programme requirement; Monitor, track indicators and evaluate media coverage; campaigns, publication prints and digital to maximize efficiency. 
• Draft press releases articulating project impact and achievements effectively. 
• Support the implementation of the advocacy strategy and design products that can be shared with both internal and external stakeholders.  
• Support preparation of key messaging, LAW’s research reports and legal filings and concept notes for events. 
• Draft donor briefings with visually appealing stories to highlight the impact of LAW’s projects.  

Event Coordination and Engagement

• Support LAW hosted events: liaising with panelists, preparing concept notes, agendas, flyers, and circulating to participants.
• Support relationships and maintain list of national and regional network and journalistic contacts. 
• Provide bi-weekly reports of deliverables detailing progress against the work plan. 
• Conduct field visits and take professional photos to champion and profile successful stories and social media posts. 
• Designing material to embed LAW’s branding and donor visibility.

Digital Media

• Develop a social media plan and identify various audiences for our social media channels, and plan how to increase LAW’s engagement in the country. 
• Design and implement a social media schedule, ensuring content is planned well in advance for key activities, and proactively respond to breaking news. 
• Design, deliver and maintain engaging content across our key social media channels, including Twitter, to create impactful stories, case studies, and other content to engage with our audiences. 
• Assist in the creation, designing of innovative, information toolkits (audio, digital) that will be used by Survivor Advocates for their field work.
• Maintain and update the website content, collating inputs from the county programme. 
• Research and analyse performance on various platforms and make recommendations on how to improve our communications. 

Education and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in communications, international relations, human rights, communications, marketing, media relations, or journalism.
• Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in communications, digital media, or social media strategy in a similar position.
• Excellent English speaking and writing skills; familiarity with Chittagong/Rohingya language will be preferred.

Other Requirements

• You must be a Bangladeshi national or have the legal right to work in Bangladesh.
• Experience in journalism is preferred.
• A strong portfolio of impactful content creation across digital platforms.
• Proficiency in Canva, Adobe tools, and basic video editing.
• Demonstrated experience in photography.
• Experience of using digital marketing tools, e.g., Mailchimp, is desirable.
• Understanding of legal and access to justice issues is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Strong and demonstrated interest in human rights and experience in international NGOs preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong technical literacy.
