The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is one of the largest environmental charities in the UK, dedicated to protecting wildlife and the environment. The charity is seeking a Junior Copywriter to join their creative team for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your copywriting skills while contributing to the organization’s mission of conservation and environmental protection.

The Role
As a Junior Copywriter, you will be responsible for writing clear, engaging content for a variety of channels, including web, email, and social media. Working within the in-house creative team, you’ll be tasked with bringing complex ideas to life and ensuring the RSPB brand tone of voice is consistently maintained across different platforms. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects and collaborate with various teams and departments. Additionally, you will gain valuable experience working for a large charity, responding to creative briefs, meeting deadlines, and receiving feedback from approvers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Writing for a variety of audiences and channels, ensuring that content is engaging and aligned with the RSPB’s brand tone of voice.
  • Translating complex environmental issues into clear, compelling copy that encourages action.
  • Collaborating with team members to solve communications challenges and contribute to campaigns.
  • Ensuring content is tailored to different platforms and audiences, from emails to social media posts.
  • Working to deadlines and responding to feedback from approvers.

The Person
The ideal candidate is a creative and skilled writer with a passion for storytelling. You should be able to take complex ideas and distill them into accessible, engaging content. Experience can come from coursework, personal projects, or community involvement. A keen interest in nature and environmental issues is desirable but not essential.
