Effective Altruism Netherlands is looking for a Content Officer for EAGxAmsterdam 2025.

Overview:

  • Freelance contract: June – 19th December, 2025
  • Language: English
  • Location: Anywhere (Remote); Must be on-site for the event in Amsterdam
  • Salary: €5,205 gross
  • Applications closing: 12th May

Job Description

EAGxAmsterdam 2025 will be a 2.5-day conference for hundreds of people that will take place at B. Amsterdam on 12–14 December 2025.

Its goals are to strengthen connections across the regional EA community and deepen participants’ understanding of EA-inspired research and practice.

You’ll join a small team alongside a Production Officer, a Communications Officer, and an Admissions and Volunteers Officer, all coordinated by the Team Lead, James (who is supported by the Centre for Effective Altruism).

The role will demand roughly 200 hours between June and mid-December 2025, which averages 4–10 hours per week. However, workloads will spike during programme design (June–August), in the final run-up to the conference (October–December), and over the conference weekend itself. You should also keep some weekday time free to handle urgent messages, rather than packing all of your hours into a single work block.

Responsibilities

As Content Officer, you’ll own the content pipeline: designing the programme (with input from the Team Lead and the Centre for Effective Altruism), selecting and liaising with speakers, and ensuring talks are delivered, recorded, and shared effectively (in collaboration with the Communications Officer). Final decisions about speakers will be made in consultation with the Team Lead and the Centre for Effective Altruism.

You’ll also work closely with the Communications Officer to help them promote the event, inform attendees about the sessions, and highlight the best content after the conference.

  • Build a speaker longlist and a first draft of the programme (with input from the Team Lead and the Centre for Effective Altruism)
  • Finalise programme draft and get sign-off (from the Team Lead and the Centre for Effective Altruism) to begin speaker outreach
  • Secure speakers and MCs, schedule sessions, and help the Communications Officer promote the speakers
  • Finalise speaker confirmations and programme; help speakers prepare
  • Collect final materials (slides, notes); confirm arrival logistics
  • Finalise all session materials; prep MCs; write opening remarks
  • Run content-related logistics during the event with the Production Officer
  • Coordinate video editing, upload talks, and close the communications loop

Role Requirements

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Are very well-read in EA and its related cause areas
  • Are reliable, clear in writing, and manage deadlines independently
  • Have attended several EAG or EAGx events
  • Are well-connected to speakers relevant to EA topics in the Netherlands and beyond
  • Stay up to date on the latest EA research and watch niche lectures on YouTube for fun
  • Have experience curating event content or managing event logistics (nice to have)

Remember: the ideal candidate does not actually exist. You’re probably a very capable person. Please always err on the side of applying!
