The Role
We are seeking a Social Media Assistant for the Black Information Network (BIN) to help manage and grow engagement, strengthen brand recognition, and drive audience reach through impactful social media storytelling. This is an excellent opportunity for creative individuals passionate about social media and content creation. The role is based in New York, with a focus on executing daily social media tasks and creating engaging content for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and more. This position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves staying on top of trends and viral moments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily social media presence for BIN, ensuring content is consistent with brand voice.
  • Create visually compelling social content using tools like Canva, Photoshop, etc.
  • Stay up-to-date with social media trends and integrate them into strategies.
  • Write engaging social media copy relevant to the audience.
  • Monitor social media performance and adjust strategies based on metrics.
  • Respond to audience comments and engage in conversations to foster community.
  • Work with the team to brainstorm creative ideas and initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support to the social media team when needed.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in social media, digital marketing, or content creation.
  • Strong understanding of platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and others.
  • Graphic design skills (Canva, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sked).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to pivot quickly in a 24/7 news cycle.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • A passion for Black culture, conversations, and current events.
