If you are a climate enthusiast, wanting to bring the fossil fuel era to an end, the Climate & Energy (C&E) team at Greenpeace International (GPI) is looking for two Senior Campaign Strategists to support our global work on Corporate Accountability for climate impacts, Gas, Plastics, Extreme Weather Events and more.
In this role you will provide guidance, strategic insight, and support to Greenpeace’s global network, strengthening the development and delivery of impactful, aligned, and innovative campaigns that drive real-world change. This role supports National and Regional Organisations (NROs) and global C&E projects through all stages of the campaign lifecycle and champions best practice, knowledge exchange, and collaboration across borders.
You’ll be joining the Programme Department at Greenpeace International, which provides the strategic vision, direction, and support to develop and deliver the Global Programme – Greenpeace’s coordinated global campaigning work. Your mission will be to help enhance campaign performance, foster cohesion across our distributed network, and identify and support the development of cutting-edge projects that respond to our planet’s most pressing challenges.
Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Guide, inspire, and support NRO and global project teams through all phases of the campaign lifecycle to deliver high-quality, strategic, and impactful campaigns aligned with the Global Programme.
- Facilitate the co-creation of integrated campaign strategies that respond to Greenpeace’s Global Programme priorities.
- Provide strategic advice to Programme Leaders across Greenpeace International and NROs, including contributing to the development of long-term campaign directions.
- Support the delivery of projects through strategic expertise, direct project leadership where needed, and championing innovation and best practice sharing.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally, and represent Greenpeace in relevant fora.
- Identify opportunities to increase strategic alignment and collaboration across NROs and campaign teams.
- Promote and support agile learning practices, including monitoring, evaluation, and feedback loops, to ensure campaign effectiveness and responsiveness.
Role Requirements
We don’t expect every candidate to meet every requirement, but we believe that candidates with a strong mix of the following skills and experience will thrive in this role:
- Proven track record of delivering ambitious, impactful and people powered campaigns.
- Relevant understanding of campaigning covering the equity and justice concerns relating to Climate & Energy.
- Deep expertise in one or more strategic areas related to Greenpeace’s campaign priorities.
- Skilled in change leadership, with the ability to influence work culture and team performance.
- High responsiveness and adaptability in the face of external change, with the ability to maintain a clear strategic focus.
- Significant experience working in multicultural environments, across different geographies and timezones, with preference to experience in the Global South.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong project management abilities and experience leading complex initiatives.
- Experience in capacity-building, coaching, and facilitating knowledge transfer.
- Familiarity with communications best practices in campaigning.
- Fluent written and spoken English (additional languages are an asset).
- Resilient, flexible, and comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
- Demonstrable support for and belief in the Greenpeace network core aims and values.
- Digital literacy skills; the ability to learn and utilise our digital platforms to successfully perform the role function (familiarity with G-Suite, Slack and Zoom is an advantage)
