Job Description

The new London Museum will open at Smithfield in 2026, and we are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Marketing Officer to help us tell London’s stories in bold and brilliant ways.

As Marketing Officer, you’ll dream up and deliver imaginative campaigns that showcase the museum’s vibrant offer. From driving footfall at our historic Docklands site to supporting the launch of our spectacular new home in the heart of the city, this is a role where your work will have real impact. You’ll join a passionate Marketing and Communications team dedicated to growing audiences, building brand awareness and putting creativity to work for one of the world’s most exciting cultural projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Marketing team in the development and running of campaigns for exhibitions, displays and events programmes, monitoring these against set KPIs and the museum’s visitor growth strategy to reach our target audience segments.
  • Monitor ticket bookings for any ticketed event campaigns they’re responsible for, using initiative to identify and reallocate resource/ideas to events which require support to reach targets.
  • Monitor and assess reports shared via our digital agency to ensure learnings are implemented and successes are celebrated. To contribute to internal quarterly Marketing and Communications reports.
  • Generate ideas for creative and engaging marketing content that can be used as promotional tools for campaigns.
  • Act as a brand guardian and help maintain the consistent application of the museum brand and tone of voice. This will include working with the museum’s Design team to produce a range of advertising and marketing materials.
  • Act as a champion of the museum’s audience segmentation, ensuring that colleagues across the organisation are familiar and comfortable with the audience strategy and target audience segments.
  • Identify, develop and implement promotional partnerships with fellow museums and creative and community businesses and organisations to reach target audiences and enhance the London Museum and London Museum Docklands brands.
  • To be responsible for the planning, copywriting, co-ordination, production, distribution and stock control of effective promotional materials, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • To help commission, co-ordinate and supervise photography of the galleries, events and people for use in paid marketing channels.
  • To undertake any other marketing responsibilities, as reasonably requested by the Head of Marketing and Communications or Marketing Manager and when capacity allows, which is consistent with the grade of the post.

Role Requirements

  • Experience of co-ordinating and reporting on effective consumer facing marketing campaigns.
  • Experience of copywriting and/or content creation to a consistently high standard.
  • An imaginative, inclusive approach to marketing and an instinct for identifying exciting opportunities to increase the museum’s awareness.
  • Very organised and methodical in approach to tasks, with the ability to deliver work on time and to a high standard.
  • An effective communicator, able to convey a message in a clear, concise way.
  • Strong proof-reading skills and ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Good team working skills, always looking for ways to creatively contribute towards collective team goals.
