The South Asian Council for Social Services (SACSS) is seeking a dynamic and creative Junior Communications Manager to join our team. The Junior Communications Manager will manage our newsletter and donor communication tools, support and grow our social media presence, and create compelling content to engage our community and amplify SACSS’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

Newsletter and Donor Communications:

  • Manage SACSS’s newsletter using Network for Good and ensure timely, impactful communication with donors and supporters.
  • Develop, edit, and distribute newsletters and email campaigns that highlight SACSS’s impact, events, and initiatives.
  • Track and analyze email performance metrics to optimize engagement and donor retention.

Social Media Management:

  • Manage SACSS’s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms).
  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging posts that align with SACSS’s mission and campaigns.
  • Monitor social media analytics to assess growth, engagement, and audience insights, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and execute social media campaigns that increase awareness and community engagement.
  • Track and monitor social media trends and audience behaviors across multiple platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) to optimize content strategy and campaign execution

Content Creation and Brand Messaging:

  • Develop content (copy, images, and short videos) that communicates SACSS’s work, mission, and impact to diverse audiences.
  • Work with team members to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communications platforms.
  • Support storytelling efforts by creating donor spotlights, client success stories, and event highlights for newsletters and social media.

Outreach and Growth:

  • Collaborate with the team to develop strategies for increasing SACSS’s online presence and follower base.
  • Engage with the SACSS community online, responding to comments, inquiries, and messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships and collaborations to expand SACSS’s digital reach.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working in preferably in the nonprofit sector or related field.
  • Proficiency in email marketing tools, especially Network for Good (or similar platforms).
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and analytics tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Loomly, etc.).
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail and the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences.
  • Basic graphic design and video editing skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools) are a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in or with nonprofit organizations.
  • A strong understanding of SACSS’s mission and the communities we serve.
  • Knowledge of Queens, NYC, and immigrant community issues is a bonus.
  • Able to take a variety of complex topics and distill them into accessible language.
